Garnet

This beautiful gemstone is most commonly known for its deep, velvety red hue; however garnets can occur naturally in almost any color. Garnet is a fairly hard stone (a 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs' scale) which makes it an excellent stone for everyday wear. It is the modern birthstone for January.
